Privacy Policy
NetVitals (“the App”) is built to be private by design. This policy explains what the App does — and does not do — with your information. In short: NetVitals does not collect, track, or sell any personal data, and it does not require an account.
Information we collect
None. We do not collect or transmit personal information, and there is no sign-up or login. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and we do not create user profiles or device identifiers for tracking.
Data stored on your device
Your test results (speed tests, Wi‑Fi Health scores, and other diagnostics) are saved locally on your device so you can review history over time. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to export or share it (for example, exporting to CSV or using the share sheet). You can delete your history at any time from within the App.
Network connections the App makes
To perform the diagnostics you request, the App establishes network connections. Most are initiated by you and are required to deliver the feature you tap; one (the public network information lookup below) runs automatically when the App opens:
- Hosts you enter — Ping, DNS Lookup, Traceroute, Port Scan and Whois connect to the address or domain you type in.
- Your local network — LAN Scan probes devices on your own local subnet, only when you start a scan.
- Speed test — measures throughput against a measurement endpoint (Cloudflare).
- Public resolvers — DNS records are resolved over DNS‑over‑HTTPS
(Cloudflare,
cloudflare-dns.com), and domain (Whois) data is retrieved via public RDAP services (rdap.org). - Public network information — when the App opens, it looks up your
public IP address, ISP/organization, and approximate location (city/region/country) by
querying a third‑party IP‑information service (
ipinfo.io, withapi.ipify.orgas a fallback). This is used only to display your connection details in the App; the result is derived from your IP address, not from device GPS, and it is not stored on our servers, logged, or associated with any identity.
We do not attach names, accounts, or advertising identifiers to these requests.
Permissions
- Local Network — used only for user‑initiated Ping and LAN Scan.
- Location (While Using the App) — used only to display the name (SSID) of the Wi‑Fi network you are currently connected to, which iOS requires the permission for. Your location is not stored, logged, or shared.
In‑app purchases
“NetVitals Pro” is a one‑time in‑app purchase processed by Apple. Payments and billing are handled entirely by Apple; we do not receive or store your payment details. See Apple’s Privacy Policy for how Apple handles purchase data.
Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Data security & sharing
Because the App keeps your data on your device and collects nothing on our servers, there is no personal data for us to share, sell, or lose. We never sell your data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
