Privacy Policy
NetVitals (“the App”) is built to be private by design. It does not require an account, use advertising or analytics SDKs, create tracking profiles, or sell personal data. Network diagnostics necessarily contact the selected destination or service; this policy explains when that happens and what those services can observe.
Information collected by us
None. We do not operate an account, analytics, advertising, or diagnostic data collection service for the App. We do not receive your saved test history, Wi‑Fi name, precise location, payment details, or device identifiers.
Data stored on your device
Your test results are saved locally so you can review history over time. They leave your device only when you explicitly export or share them. You can delete this history in the App. Your current Wi‑Fi name (SSID), when permission is granted, is read only for display and is not uploaded or retained by us.
User-initiated network connections
The App makes the following connections only after you start the corresponding feature:
- Hosts you enter — Ping, DNS Lookup, Traceroute, Port Scan, and Whois contact the address or domain you provide. The destination and intervening network providers can observe your source IP and normal protocol metadata.
- Your local network — Wi‑Fi Health, LAN Scan, and Ping for a local host contact devices on the current local network. LAN Scan is a best-effort check for hosts responding on common web ports; it may not show every online device.
- Speed and connectivity tests — Cloudflare endpoints are used to measure latency and throughput and to resolve supported DNS records over DNS-over-HTTPS.
- Whois — public RDAP services are used to retrieve domain registration data.
- Public IP & ISP — when you tap “Load Public IP & ISP,” the App requests ipinfo.io. That provider necessarily receives your public IP address and returns the IP and network organization. The App ignores location fields returned by the service and does not persist the response as history.
NetVitals does not add names, accounts, advertising identifiers, or saved diagnostic history to these requests. Third-party services process requests under their own privacy policies and operational logs.
Permissions
- Local Network — used for diagnostics you initiate, including Wi‑Fi Health, LAN Scan, and Ping when you provide a local-network host.
- Location (While Using the App) — used only because iOS requires this permission to display the current Wi‑Fi name (SSID). NetVitals does not read precise coordinates, store location, or send location to us or to diagnostic providers.
In-app purchases
NetVitals Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple. Apple handles payment and billing information; we do not receive or store it. StoreKit verifies entitlement on the device. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children and does not operate accounts, advertising, analytics, or a service that collects personal information from users.
Data security and sharing
We do not sell data. Locally stored history remains under your device and Apple platform security controls. Network destinations and providers receive only what is technically necessary for the diagnostic request you initiate.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
